Last week, we had a bright and sunny day that was perfect for shooting this beautiful Christmas Cactus flower against the bright blue sky!
And, as a bonafide “Scottie-obsessed” fan, how could I not include this bright red Boyd’s Glass Scottie?
This world is so full of “classics”!
This week, I decided to take a different approach. Each of us is an *original*! We each have unique DNA and fingerprints that are ours and ours alone. We are created as not only a “work of art”, but an original AND a classic!
I am very camera-shy. I hate having my picture taken, as I always look so awful. But, for this week’s PH’s, I decided that hiding behind my little Olympus, I could still show a *bit* of myself! So, I present, “Katya: the Classic”! (who would rather live behind the lens!)
I so knew exactly the picture I would use for the theme pink! I took this picture of my little Scottie, Murphy, on his second birthday this past August 17. He had gotten the ball for his birthday, and we spent some time running about in the back yard, playing with it. When we were finished, Murphy picked the ball up in his teeth and carried it into his crate where he placed it down and sat with his pink tongue hanging out!
On the same day, I took this picture of a bumblebee hard at work on a pink coneflower!
Well, I *almost* submitted a photo of ME, because, like Mary Poppins, I am “practical” ly perfect in every way. Okay, so that is a “slight” exaggeration….
The cabinet above which houses much of my very practical Scottie collection was built by my (practical) husband after I accidentally backed our truck up and scratched it up on the tree the cabinet is made from! Tis a very practical piece, especially since it saves me from dusting all the tiny components!
As I dug around, I also came across a (very) practical sign which was mounted in an old caboose…..
Practical advice, eh?
Well, I am afraid that Miss Piggy, lying here has to be my candidate for “smelly”. I have a rather strong constitution, but the stench arising from the pigpen on what was a rather warm day, was almost too much for me! Believe me, I sped through this particular area of the “living museum”!
Sorry to those who don’t mind the *scent*!
Happy as a pig in the mud……..(or, is that muck?)
Anyone who knows me knows how important my Scotties are to me! I also love making things. Yes, my hands are frequently busy making something.
One day, as I was with my kids in the Dollar Tree, I saw some cute little bells for Christmas decorating. Suddenly, I imagined one of those bells with a wee little Scottie on top of it!
I began seeking a medium and found it in Sculpey polymer clay! Thus, my “Scottie Bell” was born….
And why stop with one? So, I began making little Scottie “fronts” and “backs” whenever I sat down for a few minutes!
I had to shape the Scotties, bake them, then paint them. And, of course, I decided to even paint some of the bells to give them an “antique” appearance!
My hobby sort of turned into an addiction!
Yes, I now have about 200 Scotties looking for homes! I have a Scottie Christmas tree and a couple more tins with MORE Scotties!
And that is my original!
I posted a couple of pictures of this last month on my blog.
My “neighbors” are not only crafters of *paper*, but they are messing with our cable connection!
Paper Wasp nest…
HA! After visiting Mousey’s paper entry, she reminded me of a really COOL “paper” product a friend of mine in Utah made! Yes, she used her embroidery machine to make this lovely SCOTTIE on a roll of TP! (and don’t even THINK about using THIS roll if you ever come to MY house!!!!)
So, I am adding one more cool paper product!!!
