Feeling a Bit Squirrely Myself!
The other day, as we were leaving Cindy’s house, Michelle and I heard a strange little scratching noise. Finally, we looked up and saw this little fellow looking down at us while contentedly opening a walnut.
Today, we spent some time cutting more firewood, then gathering part of it, and bringing it up to split. The woodshed seems to be filling up nicely. The kids have been a bit more vocal than in the past about doing firewood, but I keep telling them it is such a small piece of time for grand rewards when the wind is howling outside and we are toasty warm!
So, like that busy little squirrel, we will work for a while longer, then we can sit back and enjoy all that work this winter as the Jotul happily heats hearth and home!

They look so cute – but as they dig out all the bulbs from my pots, I refuse to feel bad for shouting at them! (not that they take any notice).
Rats with tails – so many folk call them – and the grey ones can be a serious pest over here. However, they do look cute.
Since I had to go look up Jotul, you can now tell me which model you have.
As Lucy would say… “a twirl!!” (yes our animals have voices! lol)
I’m so happy now that I’ve completely squirrel proofed my feeders… that is until the snow in the front yard reaches where they are hanging! We shovel it out, but one good fall over night and because we have so little room in the front yard to pile snow from the driveway we can shovel under the feeders almost daily!
Squirrels are little buggers, but that is okay…they give Angus something to do….he sits and watches them all the time! Very funny.
Bill, we have an older model of Jotul Firelight:

Our stove has a catalytic converter (MAJOR ARGH!!!!!) and has a cool foot pedal that lifts a door on the top of the stove for easy loading. It is a terrific stove!
Terri, (shh….don’t tell Bill) but our Scotties speak too..with a verra thick Scottish brogue!!!!!!!
Squirrels are not indigenous to Australia [we have possums], so my friends in the US and UK are always so surprised when I take 10s of photos of them: they look so cute — as possums do, and are probably equally as destructive in homes!
