Did You Know?
That the moon has a (visible) equator?
Okay. Here’s the scoop! Yesterday, the entire day slipped right past me before I even noticed. The kids had to go to their Bible study in Canandaigua last night, so I dropped them off, then ran errands….and errands….and errands. Before I knew it, the night had gotten away from me, too!
Bound and determined to take some photos, I noticed the big semi-degraded Harvest Moon. This time, instead of a white illumination, it was golden! The next problem presenting itself was that I would need a tripod. Well…….
Since I had neither tripod nor monopod, I would have to simply “make do”. Since we were already in a nice flat area, (a plaza parking lot in Canandaigua) I decided to risk having someone report me! I purposefully walked forth to the nearest light pole, wrapped myself around it as best I could, and snapped some shots! It actually worked quite well, but in hindsight, I must have resembled the “town drunk”, trying to stabilize myself after a hefty binge!
It was only this morning, when I looked at the photos that I noticed a telephone line running through the moon, neatly dissecting it into two nearly identically sized halves. Oh, and the other two lights are not UFO’s, but merely street lamps!

Oh how cool is that! Katya I did laugh thinking about you clinging onto the lamppost!
Years ago at university I was sitting down at a BBQ and took a picture, looking up, of a friend who was standing up. It was only when I got the pictures back (this was waaaaay pre-digital!) that I saw that there had been a washing line behind him, and thanks to the extreme flash it looked like he had a laser beam coming out of his eyes. It really was hilarious.
By the way, it’s lovely seeing you commenting on Ian’s blog too. I’ve blogged at the wibsite for ages and so Ian and I go back quite a long way, despite never having met and living at opposite ends of the world. I just love how the blogosphere brings all our disparate worlds colliding into a much smaller world!
I laughed and laughed thinking of you wrapped around that pole! And I saw that moon too. It looked beautiful shining off the lake!
Jackie, your laser-eyes photo sounds hysterical! We have all seen photos of people with various projectiles prominently displayed as though issuing from their head, but yours sounds far better!
I have found Ian’s blog very interesting…we have so many questions as sojourners on this earth….I love hearing/reading thoughts and ideas regarding God. He is very important in my life, after all!
Jeanne, too bad you weren’t here (in front of Pontillo’s, specifically!) last night to view my antics. My poor children think I am crazed. As for what Mark thinks….well, we won’t even go there! Hey, BUT, I do get some interesting shots, eh? hehehe
Alright Mom, you are approaching certifiable, but that’s okay, because I am right behind you in that department! Great picture though.
So Carly….that would be certifiable Science teacher,eh???
