Time to do a Little Shopping

All we are hearing on the radio this morning is to prepare for the “big one” headed our way. We are hearing words like major, severe, blizzard conditions and power outages. I guess if anyone is unprepared, they must not listen to the radio, tv, nor read the paper!

Mark had made plans for us to go out today, so while out, I guess we had better do some shopping for the “basics”! We are out of milk, eggs, and bread! Guess I had better add those to the list. We will also be filling up the gas cans, as we might need gas for the generator. If not the generator, the ATV will certainly use it!

Loving *wild* weather as I do, this is going to be interesting to see how it plays out. The weatherman was just interviewed on the radio, and he said if this storm tracks as they are thinking, we and Terri are due for up to 30 inches of snow. That would certainly warrant some power outages….lines cannot hold up under that kind of stress!

So, we shall wait and see….

I miss the nor’easters since I moved out here to WI. All my life up until then I lived in New England. We have snow out here and the freezer always has plenty in it to eat. We have a propane powered generator that will power everything in the house except the air conditioning unit. It kicks on 10 seconds after the power goes out. We need it as we have no wood stove or fireplace. We are also a safe haven for elderly neighbors if the power is out for an extended length of time. Snuggle in once you get back and keep us posted! Pictures!!!

  • I think all I’m due for is 2 ft. of snow. I did finished the grocery shopping today, including the stuff needed to start the Christmas baking( I MUST get some off to Iraq by Tuesday). Stay warm, dear friend!

  • 30 inches of snow – crikey! It’s been quite mild here and I think we’ll be lucky to see a single snowflake this month.

  • Dayna, the thought of ever moving away from the NE would break my heart. I do love PA, and would gladly move there to the mountains, but no further south. What would I do without snow? How wonderful that you provide a safe place for the elderly! God bless you, richly!!!

Cindy, ah dear Cindy. I know this must be somewhat stressful for you, but think of the cookies you and the girls can make!!! We will certainly be snug and cozy…please keep safe and warm!

Sorlil, if you dig through my archives, you will see last Christmas, I was moaning and bellyaching like a 2-year-old, so utterly disappointed by the lack of snow! The past two or three winters have been so mild, with the bulk of snow arriving in MARCH! I have been longing for an old-fashioned winter, and perhaps the Lord took mercy upon me! Oh, and for a real chuckle, if you dig into my archives and click on April 2007, a little April calendar will appear on the right side of the screen. Take a look at April 16 under the title “If this was November or December….”

  • Goodness, you do have some real weather over there! When I was in New York last February, I felt I’d never been so cold in my life…

  • How are you holding up with the weather? With the unbroken blue skies and the perfect weather we have here in Dubai, I can’t imagine the snow and the words storm or blizzard right now!

    keep warm and safe!
