A Birdseye View of the Bristolwood
When I was a little girl, one of my fondest wishes was to have “sky blue” eyes! Well, why not? My eyes are blue, after all! Yes, blue is my favorite color and when the skies shine with that intense sapphire color, I just want to capture it so I can enjoy it over and over and over again…
So, with beautiful skies above me, I decided to give you a little look at what our world looks like.
If you come to our house from the west, you will have to climb up the road to get here. This is a picture of the scenery from the bottom of our driveway…
And if you choose to arrive from the east, you must descend to reach our home…
This is looking up the driveway from the road. I will give you a clue. The house is nearly in the center of this picture!
I walked about halfway up the driveway to take another picture of the house. And you can see that we really love our woods so much!
With the sky so intensely blue, and the clouds so irresistably white, how could anyone NOT want sky blue eyes, anyway?

Blue skies and woods…what a perfect combination and what a wonderful setting for your house.
)
How far does the road at the bottom of your drive rise? In fact what sort of elevation is your house at? It’s just that there seems to be very little pollution in the air.
Thank you, Ruth! Mark and I spent many days, weeks, months looking for this “perfect” spot. We do love it here!
Bill, I am not sure what our elevation is. There is a ski mountain about 2 miles away that claims a 1200′ vertical drop. Another “hill” across from us has the highest point in our county. According to info I found on the internet, our town is at 1100′ above sea level. I have no idea WHERE that info was taken. We live above the valley floor that lies down the hill about 1500′ from our driveway. And, the hill is “quite” steep! I think Mark figured we are perhaps 200′ above the valley.
As far as pollution goes, we are not located near any large cities, so that probably helps. The largest city nearby is Rochester and it isn’t much of a “production” city.
The particular set of hills we are located in (I have no idea what they are even called!) are heavily wooded and the backside of our hill is actually state-owned land. Not a lot of people WANT to live this far from Rochester. Mark didn’t mind the 50 mile drive to work…he called it his time for “thinking”! He drove it for seven years, until he had a spinal cord injury.
